In this series, I am playing with the physical properties of light to prove or confuse the reality of the photograph, using the seductiveness of surface to manipulate the viewer. Using self-portraiture to rectify losses of agency in portraiture declares intention and control over systems of representation I unwillingly find myself in. Recognisable motifs and poses appear as echoes through art history to be reappropriated in the current moment. Where can subjectivity exist within the suffocating confines of representation?
